Western Washington University’s Art 494 class, a critique-driven interdisciplinary course based in self-directed project development, will be hosting an exhibition entitled “Cut and Paste: A Cacophony of Colorful Conceptions” at JINX artspace in Bellingham, WA. The course mandates a formal exhibition at the end of the quarter to mark the completion of a self-selected body of work. The Art 494 class of winter 2010 includes painting, sculpture, photography and a variety of mixed-media installations.
JINX, owned and operated by painter Michelle Schutte, is an artist collective and venue for music and art in downtown Bellingham. With one main gallery and 16 individual studio spaces, JINX is a home for artists and musicians of every kind, and currently has two studio spaces available this spring. Contact Michelle at (360) 389-3569 to inquire.
The exhibition will be on display at JINX from March 15-19, 2010, with a closing reception on Friday, March 19, beginning at 5 p.m. JINX artspace also presents the “Red & Pink” group art show concurrently with “Cut and Paste”, which will be on view in the main gallery through March 27, 2010.
In an effort to bridge the gap between the local art and music scenes, and between the university and city communities, Art 494 and JINX artspace are proud to present performances by Step 2 This, local band Baltic Cousins and guests at the reception.
Admission to “Cut and Paste” will be free from 5 to 8 pm. All-ages live music will begin after 8 pm, with admission by suggested donation. All proceeds benefit JINX artspace.
“Cut and Paste” will be open to the public from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday the week of the exhibition. JINX is open to the public every Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and by appointment.
Members of Art 494 contributing the exhibition include Shelly Browder, Bess Butterworth, Calli Colouzis, Meg Coulter, Katie Johnson, Mimi Lim, Ashley McDaniels, Maia Melton, Beth Morrell and Kelli Waugh.
